Carbon-fleece multilayer cone – light, rigid and resonance-free

The newly developed carbon fleece multilayer cone of the ML165 PRO was designed and manufactured in close collaboration with renowned specialist Dr. Kurt Müller. Its layered carbon structure combines extreme stiffness with minimal mass, effectively reducing unwanted resonances.

A specially shaped reinforcement collar on the rear – directly at the transition to the surround – significantly increases torsional stiffness and prevents deformation even at high excursion levels. The straight cone geometry at the voice coil former optimizes power transfer and ensures exceptionally precise and controlled sound radiation.

Copper cap for maximum linearity

At the heart of the motor assembly is a copper cap on the pole core. By generating controlled eddy currents, it damps fluctuations in the magnetic field, reducing voice coil inductance, linearizing impedance in the high-frequency range and significantly lowering distortion. The result is a smoother frequency response, higher efficiency and remarkably natural reproduction even in the upper frequency range.

Precision and perfect control

The precisely crafted magnet system of the ML165 PRO provides a stable, symmetrical magnetic flux, ensuring exceptional impulse fidelity and powerful dynamics across the entire frequency range. The aerodynamically shaped aluminum die-cast basket allows ideal voice coil ventilation, minimizes airflow turbulence and guarantees maximum thermal stability with minimal compression effects, even at high output levels.

The specially designed rubber surround enables exceptionally linear cone excursion with minimal distortion. Its highly damped material ensures exact centering and precise control even at maximum excursion, while the high-strength Nomex spider with its dimensionally stable fabric maintains consistent centering and long-term mechanical durability. The result is controlled bass response and a clean, natural midrange presentation.

Massive 24-carat gold-plated terminals ensure maximum conductivity and absolute signal integrity – an essential contribution to uncompromising reference-level sound quality.
