The Hertz Mille Legend MLK 165.3 car audio speaker system is comprised of the ML 28.3 Legend tweeter and the ML 165.3 Legend woofer with the MLCX 165.3 dedicated crossover.
The woofer originates from the ML 1650.3 Legend, inheriting all of its technologies such as the Boundary Free Surround, the V-cone profile Pressed-pulp cone with cotton fibres, the six spoke aluminium basket with vented holes; however, it has been designed employing a high density ferrite magnet assembly, characterising its emission in the mid frequency range.
The ML 28.3 Legend tweeter mounts the same Neodymium magnet assembly as the ML 280.3 Legend and features all the optimizations made with FEA methods on the dome profile, and that it shares with its “older brother”, except for the most esoteric features such as the die-cast aluminium faceplate, the CNC machined body made from solid aluminium block and the copper short circuit ring.
Like the MLCX 2 TW.3, the MLCX 165.3 crossover also features the “Hi-Contour” control to adjust the ML 28.3 tweeter cut-off frequency and so the crossover-point with the ML 165.3 woofer, according to the position of the two speakers in the car. Through the tweeter three position level control, with 2 dB step attenuation, the level for a correct timbre balance can be fine-tuned according to one’s own tastes.
Hertz Mille Legend MLK 165.3 - Product Features
ML 28.3 Legend
- Double Neodymium magnet optimized with FEA simulations, for maximum field symmetry and exceptional transfer efficiency.
- Tetolon Fiber dome optimized with FEA simulations, for excellent dynamics and angle dispersion.
- Larger rear chamber, to reduce Fs from 1000Hz to 900Hz.
- Natural fibre non-woven sound-absorption material, for better damping and more natural acoustic emission.
ML 165.3 Legend
- CCAW double-layer 36 mm voice coil on Kapton former, for exceptional power handling and no-compromise dynamics.
- Exponential V-cone® with optimized geometry for better dispersion and higher SPL performance.
- “Boundary Free” IIR rubber surround, for higher efficiency.
- Cotton-injected paper cone for stiffness, lightweight and dynamics.
- Three-spoke, anti-resonant aluminium alloy basket featuring built-in venting holes.
- Highly acoustic transparent basket design
MLCX 165.3 Legend
- “Hi-Contour” two-position control, to select the tweeter hi-pass crossover point according to the tweeter position/angle towards the listener.
- Three terminals for tweeter level adjustment in 2 dB steps, to fine-tune the transducer’s emission.
- Extremely high quality bi-metallized 160V polyester film capacitors with ultra-low DF, for maximum sound transparency and neat mid/hi-frequencies.
- Air wound built on pure copper-wire copper-wire with up to 1mm diameter, for high saturation threshold of the magnetic flux and low losses on the woofer section where high transient currents are demanded.
- High power rating Wirewound resistors, to ensure performance stability even at high operating temperature. The Wirewound build construction grants low parasitic series inductance thus reducing losses at high frequencies, especially for resistors in series to the tweeter
